Frequently asked questions
What is the warranty on awning fabric?
Fabric fade warranties should cover ten years, with five years the absolute minimum. We recommend requesting the maximum 10-year cover offered by leading manufacturers.
How much does it cost to install my awning?
The installation requirements for an awning or other solar-protection system depend on several factors: size, location, installation complexity and the time required to complete the work.
A specialist technician from TECNITOLDO will visit and inspect the installation site several days before work begins. The assessment will cover the system’s size and purpose, operating method, management and controls, location, installation complexity and the time required to install the awning or other solar-protection system.
As soon as the assessment is complete, you will receive a fixed quote for the product and installation. Our specialist awning and solar-protection installation teams work throughout Murcia, Almería, Albacete and Alicante, completing projects in exceptionally short timescales. Please ask us about work in other regions.
How long does it take to install an awning?
If everything goes smoothly, the estimated installation time for our awnings is 15 DAYS. However, to provide a more accurate estimate, a specialist TECNITOLDO technician will inspect the installation site beforehand to assess the time needed for the awning or other solar shading system.
As soon as our technician completes the assessment, you will receive an estimate of the installation time and a quote for the product.
Our specialist awning and solar shading installers carry out installations in the Region of Murcia, Almería, Albacete and Alicante in record time. Please enquire for other autonomous communities.
Which fabric is best for an awning?
Damage caused by UV rays has increased in recent years. Many people do not know that UV exposure also occurs in the shade.
Choosing the right awning fabric gives you reliable protection from radiation. Someone under direct sun without any protection risks serious sunburn. If the same person is under an awning but the fabric’s protection rating is inadequate or absent, they can still burn; it simply takes longer. This can be even more dangerous because they may burn without feeling the direct heat.
It is very important for the fabric to have an appropriate UV-protection factor. Radiation can be reduced by up to 97.5%; we recommend that this protection factor never falls below 60%. If you have fair skin and are prone to burning, choose the highest possible UV-protection factor.
Which colours are best for an awning?
The choice of awning fabric is important: consider both aesthetics and thermal comfort. A light-coloured fabric is recommended because it absorbs less heat.
Our catalogue offers a range of fabric colours to help you create a cooler space.
What thread is used to sew an awning?
High-quality thread must be used for sewing, in the same colour as the selected fabric, so it blends in and is barely visible.
Marine-grade sewing thread is usually recommended because its polyester base and special salt-resistant treatment make it highly resistant to rot.
What is technical welding on an awning?
Impulse-welding technology fuses PVC-based fabrics.
We recommend welding all technical fabrics rather than sewing them.
Acrylic fabrics can also be welded instead of stitched: impulse welding melts a 3M bonding tape between the two fabric sections, creating an adhesive join.
